The Associated Press photo of his Basketball Hall of Fame speech, tears in eyes and brow furrowed, has become the most ubiquitous meme of the past six months, Photoshopped onto the faces of anyone who lost anything, from Cam Newton to Donald Trump. Sporting News discussed Jordan — and his crying face — with Hornets players and found a dichotomy of descriptions: the former legend who both teaches younger players and expects the most out of them, while also keeping things light....

The unnamed boy’s family was fostering the 60lb male pit bull at their home in the city of Hazel Park, Oakland County, when it turned on the child, The Detroit News reported citing a police statement. As the attack unfolded, the child’s 38-year-old mother used a knife to cut the dog in an attempt to protect her son. The boy’s 14-year-old sister called the police at around 6:45 p.m., telling authorities her mother was trying to fend off the animal....

Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) announced the new COVID rules and extra guidelines on Sunday, as cases continue to rise across the state. As of November 13, Michigan had recorded a total of 244,741 confirmed cases, and 7,929 deaths attributable to COVID-19, according to state data. In late March, the number of new cases each day peaked at nearly 2,000. Following a statewide stay-at-home order, which ran from late March until early June, daily case counts were driven down to fewer than 200 by mid-June....

The man in question is Milton Guasti, who took to Twitter to reveal that he’ll be working on level design in the studio’s newest game. “It’s a special day for another reason. I’m now part of Moon Studios, I’ll be working on level design for Ori and the Will of the Wisps,” Guasti wrote. His mention of it being a “special day” is in reference to the fact that his hiring was confirmed on the first anniversary of Project AM2R and the 31st anniversary of Metroid, thus boosting the momentousness of the occasion even further....

Metroid Dread appears to revolve around the premise of Samus fleeing from the E.M.M.I., which are quadrupedal robots that stalk the character. Being caught by Metroid Dread’s E.M.M.I. enemies seemingly results in the player’s demise, making platforming a tense test of mastery and improvisation. Quick, reactionary combat is shown with sprinting parries and environmental obstructions that can be dealt with in a number of ways. However, one fan has shown particular interest in an animation design that is much easier to miss without closer inspection....

However, amid all the pre-release excitement, many older fans are wondering how far they can push the new mechanics. Metroid, especially Super Metroid and Metroid Prime, have very dedicated speedrunning scenes that have been around since before speedrunning became widespread. As Dread is a 2D Metroid game, Super Metroid fans are looking at it with particular interest. Metroid Dread’s mixture of fan-favorite power-ups and new abilities seem to advertise many opportunities to build up speed, and that could make for an awesome new speedrun once the game is out....

Recently, a developer who worked on Metroid Prime revealed an intriguing detail about the game’s development. In an interview with Kiwi Talkz, David Kirsch, a former developer at Retro Studios, talked about his attempt to include Super Metroid from the SNES in the game. Kirsch, also known as Zoid, said his motivation to add Super Metroid in Metroid Prime was due to playing the SNES title at the start of development....

The report found that the highest rates of coronavirus antibodies were found in blood samples from people in Baja California, a northwest Mexican state that borders California, and Chihuahua, a state that borders New Mexico and Texas, both with 40.7 percent. In comparison, antibodies were found in only 26.6 percent of blood samples taken in western states, AP reported. In total, antibodies were found in over 30 percent of all blood samples—suggesting that as many as one-third of Mexicans had been exposed to the virus by the end of 2020....
