Mets reliever Jenrry Mejia may never play in the majors again after netting a permanent ban for a third violation of MLB’s policy against performance-enhancing substances, MLB announced Friday. He is the first player in MLB history to receive a lifetime ban for a PED violation. The 26-year-old right-hander was suspended for 80 games in April 2015 for testing positive for Stanozolol. He returned and pitched in seven games before being hit with a 162-game suspension in July for testing positive again for Stanozolol and Boldenone....

Mexico’s Excélsior reported Tuesday that his son said the 81-year-old—a Grammy Award-winning artist described as “Mexico’s greatest living singer,” with a career spanning five decades—is semi-sedated and stable. His condition has not become more serious and he is responding well to treatment, according to this son, the Mexican daily newspaper reported. According to a “medical report” shared Tuesday as an image post on the singer’s official Instagram and Facebook accounts, the singer was reported to be on a ventilator and receiving critical patient care in the ICU (intensive care unit) following his surgery....
