MGM’s Creed 3 looks to build on the success of its two predecessors, as the spin-off/sequel films to the Rocky franchise have been worthy continuations with Jordan in the titular role. With production on Creed 3 beginning in January in Atlanta and the film set to release in theatres later in 2022, Creed 3 is now giving plenty of opportunities for young filmmakers to get a taste of the industry.

According to Variety, the Georgia Film Academy’s (which was founded in 2015) partnership with MGM helps further the goals of mentoring up and coming filmmakers, which will open up many doors for the next generation of industry professionals by giving them the experience of working on big-budget projects like Creed 3. “On behalf of Michael and the filmmaking team for ‘Creed III,’ we are thrilled to welcome Georgia Film Academy students into our ‘Creed’ family,” Elizabeth Raposo, president of Jordan’s Outlier Society, said. “We are inspired by the mission of the GFA and believe that mentorship of the next generation of filmmakers is essential to the longevity of our business. Outlier Society believes in an inclusive, equitable and fun filmmaking environment and we are honored to have the next generation of young filmmakers join us on this journey."
The eight interns who have joined the set are working in the production office, video assistants, the AD department, electric/lighting, VFX, grip/rigging, and SPFX. The Georgia Film Academy, which is part of the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia, has given more than a 1,000 students the opportunity to complete their production certification by training on over 125 large-scale productions such as Ant-Man, Avengers: Infinity War, Jungle Cruise, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. “This is the kind of public-private partnership which puts Georgians to work and makes our state ready to support all the production activity of today and tomorrow. On behalf of our students, we appreciate the opportunity to be part of the ‘Creed’ family," Georgia Film Academy executive director Jeffrey Stepakoff stated.
Following in the footsteps of Ryan Coogler and Steven Caple Jr., Jordan has big shoes to fill as a first director, and while that may be intimidating, his new co-star Jonathan Majors believes he is cooking up something truly special. The upcoming film will also see Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad reprise their roles as Bianca Taylor and Mary Anne Creed. Ryan Coogler has also returned to pen the story, and his brother Keenan Coogler is co-writing the screenplay.
Creed 3 will arrive in theaters on November 23, 2022.
