People magazine’s reigning sexiest man alive may be at the peak of his career nowadays, as he’s preparing to make his directorial debut in Creed 3 and his name continuously pops up whenever new rumors regarding who could be the new Black Superman start to surface. However, just like it happened for Tom Holland, Star Wars really got the best of Jordan.

In an interview with the Just for Variety with Marc Malkin podcast, Jordan told the story of how he went to audition for a part in Star Wars: The Force Awakens nearly eight years ago and utterly messed up his chance to star in a galaxy far, far away. According to Jordan, projects like The Force Awakens at the time of pre-production can be incredibly cryptic. “Everything’s like super vague; everything is in secret,” he said, meaning he couldn’t really get a grasp of his character and definitely ended up bombing his audition.
J.J. Abrams’ style surely marked the Star Wars sequel trilogy with its fair share of problems, although The Force Awakens did show plenty of promise at first thanks to secondary characters like Finn and Poe. All things considered, Finn’s role was quite diminished in the other two films, so in hindsight, everything turned out fine for Jordan.
The Force Awakens premiered only a few weeks after the first Creed, which truly launched Jordan into stardom after his appearance in the last disastrous Fantastic Four movie. Jordan was universally acclaimed for his role as Adonis Creed and his training would definitely pay off a couple of years later when he played Killmonger in Black Panther, so much so that some fans would really love it if he were to come back to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Despite clinching his first superhero parts in Marvel’s universe, maybe destiny wants Jordan to swap allegiances to DC since he’s already lined up a producer role in Static Shock, another Black superhero from DC Comics. Apparently missing out on Star Wars can be a great thing, at least for Holland and Jordan.
