After Coffee with Games asked for clarification on the meaning of the term “shipped” Nintendo revealed that, as far as the publisher was concerned, Metroid Prime Trilogy had always possessed an expiration date:
The Metroid Prime Trilogy is a steal for gamers who have yet to return to Samus’ shoes since her side-scrolling platformer days and remains one of the best first person shooter experiences on the Wii. Playing one title after another might get a bit repetitive, but all three games look great (especially considering the first two games were originally Game Cube titles) and with the edition of Echoes multiplayer component (local only) the package offers greater re-playability than Corruption alone could ever provide.
Make sure to snag a copy from your local retailer before the Trilogy disappears entirely.
According to Nintendo, other “New Play Control” titles such as New Play Control! Pikmin, Mario Power Tennis, and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat are still available.
